USS Bainbridge in Suez Canal

Special ops sailors aboard the USS Bainbridge, on pirate duty in the Middle East, killed or captured a band of pirates who had taken over an American oil tanker off Africa. The Bainbridge is named after Captain Bainbridge, the skipper of the frigate USS Philadelphia, that ran aground off Tripoli harbor while chasing a pirate corsair in 1803. All 300 sailors were taken prisoner and held for ransom in the dungeons of the Old Castle Fort next to Green Square, the epicenter of the Libyan Revolution of 2011.
